Understanding the pelvic tilt- Why is it so important to us at Made Possible??
Pelvic tilting, you’ve heard us talk about it but do you understand why we drill it into you??

.
Pelvic tilting is typically used to correct the alignment of the lumbar spine. An anterior pelvic tilt, also called lumbar lordosis is when the lower back has an excessive curve which usually results in lower back pain.
Posterior pelvic tilting is working against lumbar lordosis to stabilize and strengthen by recruiting the transverse abdomens.

According to a research study, performing an anterior pelvic tilt while standing increases lumbar lordosis and posterior pelvic tilting decreases lumbar lordosis. This study also concluded that being able to perform a pelvic tilt is important for altering the degree of lumbar lordosis while lifting or performing other types of exercise (Levine, 1996).

For instance, if you are feeling your lower back when you are doing a hip thrust on the floor then we need to reevaluate your hips and get into a posterior pelvic tilt to avoid pressing up with your back and instead press up with your glutes!
This is why we teach the pelvic tilt DAILY!
